Sonia & Robert Delaunay

Sonia and Robert Delaunay were a couple of French artists who played an important role in the development of abstract art at the beginning of the 20th century. They founded the Orphist movement, a branch of Cubism that emphasized color and light. Their works are characterized by geometric shapes and bright color contrasts. They also explored other artistic fields, such as decorative arts, fashion, theater and cinema. They were influenced by scientific theories on color, poets like Apollinaire and Cendrars, and artists like Cézanne, Picasso and Kandinsky
